Bloomsburg Falls to Mansfield in Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG - Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/Lewistown) scored a game-high 21 points, but it wasn't enough as the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team lost to Mansfield University, 64-54, on Wednesday night.
The Huskies (5-16, 1-5 PSAC East), with just seven healthy players in uniform, played on even terms with the Mountaineers (11-9, 4-2 PSAC East) through the first 16 minutes of the game with neither team getting more than a four point lead. Then with the score tied at 23-all, the Huskies went on a 7-0 run with Miskinis scoring back to back baskets and Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) hitting a three-pointer. Mansfield, though, would score the final four points of the half and trailed 30-27 at halftime.
The Huskies opened the second half of play with three-pointers from Miskinis and Kirby Johnson (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) along with a layup from Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) to go back in front by seven, 38-31, with 17:51to play in the game. The Mountaineers then went on a 12-0 run to take their biggest lead of the game to that point, 43-38. After baskets from Miksinis and Johnson made it a one-point game at 43-42, the Mountaineers used a 12-2 run to take a 55-44 lead with 6:26 to play.
The Huskies got back to within seven at 55-48 after a pair of free throws from Nicole Boone (Mountain Top/Crestwood)), but Mansfield grabbed its biggest lead of the night, 61-48, with 1:12 to play on a jumper from Courtney Brooks. Bloomsburg closed out the game with a couple of free throws from Miskinis and a basket by Kegerreis for the final margin of 10 points.
Along with 21 from Miskinis, Kegerreis and Joyce each scored 10 points. Mansfield was led by Jessica Uhrich with 19 points, while Mallory Hafer added 16.
Bloomsburg plays at Cheyney on Saturday at 1 p.m.
